Three trips from Blue Ridge into Tennessee provide a rare look at one of the most unique stretches of track in America. The train will take you past McCaysville and Copperhill, deep into the untouched wilderness of the Cherokee National Forest. At the famous Hiwassee Loop, the track circles Bald Mountain one and three-quarter times as it descends into the Hiwassee River Gorge, creating a situation where a train that is long enough actually crosses over itself. This is one of only three places in the US where this happens.
